(Giving Love Opportunity and Warmth)

Charity League’s GLOW (Giving Love Opportunity and Warmth) program helps to provide Christmas gifts to children throughout Shelby County. Each December, Charity League purchases Christmas presents for around 90 children.

Throughout time GLOW has been known by many names. It started out as the Toy Hospital. The League members and their families would spend time collecting gently used toys and then restoring the item to mint condition. The dolls would receive a new face, new clothing, etc. The Members would sew clothing throughout the year. Then on Christmas Eve after the toys were wrapped the Police would deliver the gifts. This was done for many years.

Currently Charity League currently receives referrals from schools in Shelby County. Families are recomended by guidance counselors, principals, etc. Charity League members shop for the students and deliver the gifts to schools the week before Christmas break, where parents can pick them up.

Since 1934 over 20,000 children have been assisted through the Christmas program with over $200,000 spent.
